Jubilee Celebrations 1977

The Silver Jubilee of 1977 marked the passing of 25 years since the Accession of Queen Elizabeth II. Effingham’s celebrations took place over the weekend of May 28-29th, the main events on the KGV fields being opened on the Saturday by the film and TV actor Mr. Tommy Godfrey. During the afternoon the children’s fancy dress parade was inspected by Mr. Godfrey together with resident Mrs. Rita James. Jubilee mugs were presented by actor Mr. Bill Pertwee who often participated in Effingham’s social events.
