The Village Day of 1966 took place on Saturday July 2nd and was referred to by the locals as the “Effingham Fair”. The King George V Hall and Playing Fields were just coming into use. This event was reported in the Press as having taken place in heatwave conditions. It had aimed to raise £500 but actually managed about £370.
